Overview πŸ‡¦πŸ‡·

Argentina is amidst a stray dog and cat crisis that desperately calls for the help and advocacy of kind-hearted Argentinians in order to prevent this issue from getting worse. Currently the stray dog population is growing exponentially and showing no sign of slowing down. This will lead to more of what we are already seeing: large numbers of dogs on the street, shelters are overwhelmed, and a high number of dogs who are euthanized each day.

Part of the solution to this will have to come in the form of passionate citizens establishing shelters and organizations to care for the dogs and give them a temporary home with the final goal of getting adopted. This goal to control the stray population might seem ambitious, but we know it can be done because we have seen it happen in many countries before including the United States. Just a couple decades ago, several cities in the United States used to have a stray dog population akin to that in Argentina; however, through many hours of work by passionate individuals and carefully planned collaboration they were able to control the population of stray dogs. After talking to many shelters and animal care organizations in the United States we have put together a comprehensive guide on the best practices to establish a shelter covering the organization structure, funding, education, community outreach, and the adoption process.
